Yikes! What a day!
I've had quite the interesting day today! First my coworker eyewitnesses a fatal car accident right outside our work garage..apparantly a person came barreling out of a shopping center on the other side of the road from us and turns the wrong way on the divided highway, immediately crashing into a minivan then flying up onto the grassy hill, coming back down and crashing inot and taking down a lamppost...This guy apparantly was DOA, though fortunately he seems to be the only one hurt... Considering I had that incident with a neighbors car crashing into the sidewalk over the weekend and almost into the building this kind of upset me..and leading to the closure of a main road right around us.

But that was just the beginning..I had a hematologists appointment (where my platelets are down a little but still fairly high--got to email the Mayo doc and find out what he thinks) at a fairly large 3 story building..Well I was waiting in the back room when I hear someone going around saying "Lets make sure we know where all the patients are incase we need to evacuate if it hits us" It being a possible tornado!!! A bad storm hit, I was in an interior office and I could still hear the rain and the thunder...And it made the power flicker on and off and it seemed like the ceiling was vibrating from time to time...Yikes!! After I got out I heard there was a wind gust recorded near my house at 83 mph!! Then I realized I had no power but I was hungry..I had to drive around through numerous intersections with no power and NO police directing traffic...which was scary--I can't believe nobody wrecked (although I saw quite a few accidents on the sides of the road). I came home to no power and fortunately it just came back on (it probably went out around 3ish). I hear that there are lots of other t-storms (and possible tornadoes around) so who knows if I'll have power later tonight..I just needed to vent...*phew*x(

PS- I have a phobia about thunderstorms and was flinching alot while sitting alone in the docs waiting room

Jeez... hope the worst of the storms have passed and that you're all finished with nasty traffic scares for a good while.

9. T-Storms I like
except when they knock out my power I guess that can be annoying.

Tornadoes scare the excrement out of me.

10. I had to go around that accident - the storms were the worst here since Isabel

During the storm, I was getting a massage - so I missed the fun.....Could hear it though and the lights went out.

Driving from Muddy Branch and Great Seneca Hwy to my home (about 5 miles) yesterday afternoon took over an hour. Later, I took the kids over to get some ice cream at Brusters and it was closed and the low fuel light on the Kia went on and all the gas stations were without power and finally in Gaithersburg I found a station that was open, but there was gas line panic ensuing as winds were picking up and lightning was flashing for the second line of storms and I got Gas and headed north to the house as the sun shone in the Northwest and a rainbow appeared toward the really severe stuff.

Last Saturday, I was backpacking in Dolly Sods, WV as a similar storm system hit. However, I was near the top of a ridge and only had a tarp at the campsite. We couldn't hike out that day due to the flash flooding, and we were all quite wet, but by 10:00 Sunday Morning, the creek was down to a crossable level and we went on our merry way.......
