I think that Jack White's song writing has taken a dip since Elephant. I love the White Stripes, but they're not the band they used to be.

They just have more resources now

With more resources they've lost some of their insecurity. What made White Blood Cells special is the hint of self-doubt that lingers in some of the songs. There's a lot of ambiguity in those lyrics. It's a very diverse record, emotionally.
