I suppose if keeps the floor cleaner, but I suspect my husband would have left me years ago if I tried to enforce that rule. He loves tinkering in the garage and he wears only steel toe boots or sneakers.

2. No, but only because we have this crappy old
mobile home with crappier old stained berber carpet, and taking shoes off really doesn't make any difference, lol.

5. I hate to admit it, but I leave my shoes on because otherwise my socks would get filthy!
If God meant us to eat off the floor, She wouldn't have given us plates to leave under the couch!

8. I noticed that in Minnesota, pretty much everyone takes off their shoes
upon entering. Of course, it makes perfect sense in the winter when people have on messy wet maybe muddy boots/shoes, but it seems to carryover during the summer months, too.

I don't require people to do it, but I prefer it.

9. I'm wondering if there is a cultural connection at all. I've had hints that

my culture (Irish-American) is not as well known for keeping a tidy house as other groups (German-Americans and Polish-Americans) On the other hand, my Mom is second generation and she is always cleaning!

14. Thats funny
I live in MN and I always ask if the owner would like me to take my shoes off. I guess it is a politeness thing.

17. I wish I could, but I don't really see it happening....
I think it is a more plausible idea in more temperate climates that where we are.

20. doesn't matter
On principle, yes, because I'm a renter and my floors are carpeted, but it doesn't really matter, because I live in a tiny little studio apartment, and it's hard to fit anyone else in here. Other places that I've rented, I guess I haven't though...

21. My ex used to demand it in a loud voice.
"SHOES OFF THE DAMN CARPET". After I left him it was a point of honor to leave our shoes on as long as we damn well pleased. Years later my daughter & I still joke about it. (The ironic part is it was wall to wall to wall UGLY-ass orange carpeting!)
