Any Suggestions On Removing Oil Spots From A Driveway?
My girlfriend and I are houses sitting for her parents and my car has leaked oil spots on their driveway. Is there any way to remove them? Anyone know? Thanks in advance!

1. Well...
if it's still wet oil, throw cat litter on it to soak up as much of the oil as you can. Let sit for about 30 minutes. Sweep. Then apply Dawn liberally to the stains, let soak for a about 10 minutes. Rinse with hose...you need high-pressure.

It probably won't get up all the oil at this point, but it should get up much of it.

2. Agree, and any dishwashing liquid should work, but ...
I'd add a scrub brush and a little elbow grease!
:hi:

4. Flamethrower.
Very good at removing spots from most things.

Actually, also very good at removing most things entirely.

5. I think Bix makes a good driveway cleaner, but just look for anything with
meta-sillicates listed as an ingredient. The stuff is moderately caustic (not really dangerous, but don't unduly splash yourself, and keep away from kids) but it just destroys, and I mean DESTROYS oil spots on concrete.

I hope this helps.

7. I remember hearing that Tide would soak it up, but
I never tried it. Just sprinkle the dry detergent on the spot, wait awhile, then sweep it with a stiff broom. Good luck.

9. Never underestimate a good power washer.
We hit our pavement with one. Got out old oil stains (bad ones), dirt, tree sap, and I don't know what else. Basically made it a shade of concrete that I didn't realize it had ever been.

But this was old oil. I don't know what it would do to recent spills.
