Oooooo thunder boomers!
Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 09:09 AM by BarenakedLady
And lightening. Oh my!

It's ominous out there and my brave dog Emma has busted her way to hide in the basement.

:scared:

I hope it cools things down around here though.

Hold me!

:scared:

8. spellcheck wouldn't catch 'lightening' anyway
so it's become a futile mission to get it right.

4. You just made me think of the old weatherman on the news my parents watched...
Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 12:54 PM by ThinkBlue1966
In Charlotte, my folks always watched the news broadcast on the ABC affiliate. Jerry Peterson was the weatherman for almost 2 decades, and i can still hear his voice rolling around that barrel chest before he pronounced that we had "soooommmmmmeeee THUUUUUNNNDER BOOOMMMM-BOOOMMMS on the way." *L*

From what i've read, he finally retired from television news, and works on the radio. Guess that voice hasn't aged like the rest of him.

6. Oh... we made such fun of him for years...
He became a part of the mocking pop culture of Charlotte in the same way that people mocked Clara Peller's "Where's the beef?!" *L*

10. We may get some thunder boomers here this afternoon too -
and my male greyhound, Sam, absolutely hates thunder storms. However a friend of mine told me what they do with their Maltese who hates thunder too. They give her melatonin. So the last couple of storms we've had, I've given him a 3 mg tablet of melatonin and it has helped tremendously. In fact I should probably call my husband and remind him to give Sam a dose now so that it's in his system by the time the storms him. Good luck with Emma.

13. She's fine
It was a short storm.

This is how she got down in the basement during a windstorm when no one was home.

18. Oooh, that's nasty
Of course, our female grey decided one day that she wanted to go outside and started eating a hole in the wall next to the back door. We got home before she made it to the outside, but had a large hole in the drywall to fix. My husband was less than thrilled, but she came over and made nice wand batted her big brown eyes and he forgave her.

17. You just made me smile
That was what my sainted father would call thunder when I was growing up. I miss him a lot and it was noce to think of him today, while I am having a frustrating day. Thank you.

I hope the weather settles down more towards your liking and you stay safe.
