So, at TM's Baccalaureate on Sunday, the school gifted the kids
with a plastic cup. Possibly could be used as a beer cup. Right before Beach Week.

We, the parents, to say the least, were a bit shocked.

3. a beer cup....
:rofl::rofl:

Now Midlo, not for anything but don't you remember what college was like? :P

Actually, I think a lanyard, keychain, etc. would have been a better idea, but I used my high school plastic cup regularly to avoid cup tarrifs at frat parties :rofl:

9. Public school? Does the school sponsor the baccalaureate ceremony?
If so, that raises some constitutional issues, since it is a religious event. Such ceremonies need to be sponsored by private groups rather than the school itself in order to be constitutional.

http://atheism.about.com/b/2007/05/17/religious-baccalaureate-graduation-ceremonies-declining.htm

http://www.americanhumanist.org/press/Religionpublicschools.html
School officials may not mandate or organize prayer at graduation, nor may they organize a religious baccalaureate ceremony. If the school generally rents out its facilities to private groups, it must rent them out on the same terms, and on a "first come, first served basis", to organizers of privately sponsored religious baccalaureate services, provided that the school does not extend preferential treatment to the baccalaureate ceremony and the school disclaims official endorsement of the program.

DId the kids who chose not to attend a religious event still get their cup?
