Anybody here know how to fix the pull cord on a lawn mower?
It's a Briggs & Stratton engine. The cord will pull out only about 6 or 8 inches.

1. No. But I can tell you how to open a beer.
In case you need to know. "Honey, the mower's broken, I guess I'll take a break now."

2. "Honey" flew to England yesterday. The machines around here know
that they better behave when he's around, They wait for him to leave before they act up. The cars are the worst. The Oldsmobile had an electrical problem when we bought it. He tried every trick he knew to get the car to repeat the problem so he could fix it. The car finally did break down for him: in the driveway, under the shade of a tree!

3. Ah, that's the worst

The beastly machines wait for him to leave to break down? Clearly, you can't allow him to leave.

I wish I was in England. I'm reading about the epic fight between the radical Liberal Chancellor of the Exchequer, David Lloyd-George, and the House of Lords, personified by the conservative Unionist, Lord Lansdowne, over the "People's Budget." I'd love to see the Houses of Parlaiment and some of the nearby historic sites. London just reeks of history, even though most of it has been paved over and torn down and rebuilt. *sigh*

I guess none of this is helping you with your lawnmower, however. I know how to destroy them, but I'm pretty well useless for fixing them afterward.

4. My husband told me how to do this.

With the power OFF, turn the mower over and carefully turn the blade in the normal direction while maintaining tension on the starter rope. This will allow you to unwind the rope if the problem is that it has slipped out of the groove and wrapped around the shaft.

Note: make sure the gas cap is on tight BEFORE turning the mower over.

I figured out the last part MYSELF!

Don't ask how I figured out the last part.
