Young, inexperienced, easy to impress "prey" are little to no match for the wit, experience and understanding of human nature someone in their 40s and 50s possesses. Obviously, no one bats 1.000, but when one finally "knows what they're doing", Those newer to the casual sex game are no match.

1. And the name for the predatory guys, for whom this is just "normal"?

2. "Echidnas". Duh.
There doesn't need to be such a name for either gender, though; That is why I dislike the 'cougar' term. I just can understand WHY cougar was used.

4. Just because someone possesses wit, experience and understanding of
human nature doesn't make them predatory.

5. It does when they use those characteristics to hook up with someone younger
and more naive.

I work at a university. I am 33 years old. I could absolutely, without a doubt, hook up quite a bit. It would also be predatory because we would not be on equal footing. I would know all the "right" things to do and say.
