I just saw a preview for "The Love Guru" MEGA-LOLs!!!
Like everyone, I'm a huge Mike Myers fan and I rate the 3 Austin Powers movies among the finest American comedies of the past century. However, I even I have to admit that his performance as a clueless but sexy British man was getting a bit stale. Which is why I was thrilled when I heard about The Love Guru, in which he plays a clueless but sexy Indian man!!

Anyway, I just watched the preview, and this has to be the funniest Myers movie yet. You see, right at the beginning of the preview, it shows the name of the town the Indian guy is from. Can you guess what it's called?

Harenmakeester.

Get it?

HAIR-IN-MY-KEISTER!??

KEISTER means BUTT.

He lives in a town called HAIR-IN-MY-BUTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

5. I'm sorry....
I've seen the promos with Vern Troyer being tossed around the ice. It just looks extremely stupid.

Of course, I can't wait to see "Mama Mia!", so perhaps I shouldn't rag on other people's tastes. :-)

7. Different strokes
for different folks, I guess. I love Mike Myers, and I am no interest in seeing Mama Mia.

9. That's true.
Different strokes, indeed. It would be a boring world if our tastes were all the same. :-)

10. Mama Mia has Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth -- hubba-hubba
Mike Meyers --- notsomuch.

BTW, I think the Austin Powers movies were stupid and I don't expect Love Guru to be any better.

2. I hear he greets people with the phrase "Mariska Hargitay."
Well, guess who shows up later in the film!!

That is some FUNNY shit.

15. Wait... wait... "Mariska Hargitay"??? That name is funny by itself!
Please, please tell me there's a midget in this - if so, I'll die and go to comedy heaven!

4. The previews for the Get Smart movie look awful
I used to love the TV show and thought Steve Carel was perfect for the part, but the previews I've seen are underwhelming.

I mean, you can't have him at least one time in the 30-60 second trailer have him say, "Missed it by that much" or show the Cone of Silence or the shoe phone?

12. I think if you grew up watching Get Smart
that the movie won't be that enjoyable, my opinion anyway. I brought the Get Smart series and am in the middle of watching them. I've been laughing my ass off at the stupidity that show has in it. I love it. Don Adams was perfect. It is also interesting to watch some of the other starts that did guest appearances. Then there's the Craw and Zigfried to fight.

11. It looks like a movie I'll try to avoid at all costs
I thought the Austin Powers movies were insultingly stupid. And can enjoy dumb humor--like
Spinal Tap & Wayne's World.

13. Oh, C'mon, how can you say the Austin Powers franchise is getting stale?
I mean, I agree, not much can be funnier than pseudo-Indian names referring to body orifices--well, aside from fart humor and the ubiquitous "oh look he got kicked/hit/punched/knocked between the legs"--but come the hell on! Fat Bastard? A dwarf being thrown and kicked around ? Penis jokes? No, no, no, Austin Powers is far from stale. And just imagine the hilarity in two decades, when the 19th installment has old person sex humor!!! Sex in wheelchairs, Geritol, trusses!

I just hope I live long enough to see "Austin Powers XIX: The Spy with the Blue Stiffy"!

14. It is getting some of the worst reviews of any movie this year.

It has the same score as the Uwe Boll film Postal and has a worse score than either The Happening or that Sandler film.

16. My local paper had a review of it this morning, it was a funny review unless you're Myers.
Looks like a total shit bomb. They also weren't crazy about Get Smart but i wasn't planning on seeing either.

17. The New York Times review is one of the most scathing movie reviews I've ever read:
http://movies.nytimes.com/2008/06/20/movies/20guru.html

"Which might sum up “The Love Guru” in its entirety but only at the risk of grievously understating the movie’s awfulness. A whole new vocabulary seems to be required. To say that the movie is not funny is merely to affirm the obvious. The word “unfunny” surely applies to Mr. Myers’s obnoxious attempts to find mirth in physical and cultural differences but does not quite capture the strenuous unpleasantness of his performance. No, “The Love Guru” is downright antifunny, an experience that makes you wonder if you will ever laugh again."

As Austin Powers would say, "Very ouch, baby."

19. looks like it's across the board, from the sacbee

The worse the joke is, the greater the manic gleam in Myers' eyes. He's trying to sell setups he probably knows aren't funny, and the strain can be hard to watch.

18. Looks like the same recycled gags from Austin Powers.
And Verne Troyer?

Enough already.

I wish both Mike Meyers and Adam Sandler would just go away.

The gods just have no tolerance for that level of disrespect.

24. Yup... I usually figure there's a correlation
between how hard they try to bring in those first day dollars, and how little they expect to be able to bring in as the word-of-mouth reviews get around.
