A New Poem: The Chrysalis
A perfect oval shape

The shimmering outlines of wings

The warmth of life within

Her life bound her

But she felt content, she thought

With her family, her job, her home

Her friends...

Such a path for her

Happy, safe...dull.

She scarcely wondered

What could have been hers

No passions moved within

She felt the sun in his gaze

His courtly words

The strength of his body

She thought to turn away

But then she couldn’t

His words touched her

She felt then the constraints of her life

The outer skin held her tightly as she struggled

To emerge

From the chrysalis...

1. Sweet
reminds me in some ways, oddly enough, of my wife and being trapped in a body with Parkinson's, and waiting to emerge from it some day and to fly:

2. My dear Straight Story...
Those parallels do exist here...

Your wife is bound up by her illness...

My subject is bound up by convention...

Glad you liked it!

Thank you...

3. I think that subject matter has a lot of wonderful applications
We all want to change into something better, and we want our situations we are in to come to something better.

Our hope is that we can weather these issues and come out from them in a form where we are not held down by the gravity of them, but to transcend that and to be able to 'fly' above them.

I may just write a poem on this myself tonight :) Thanks for the wonderful imagery!

I am so glad I inspired you!

Thank you for that...

And indeed yes, we all want to change into something better, don't we?

I sure do...

And it's grand to see you tonight!

When do you start your new job? Do I remember July 1st correctly?

7. Yes, July 1st.
I have some final things to do this weekend to tie things up on my cases, and then I'll have a little over a week off before starting my new gig!

10. It's very very good
but not her best. Some of her earlier stuff is even better. But she didn't post them. But it seems like she's moving in a new direction. And that's cool - you need to grow and change as a writer or you end up writing the same thing over and over. But I convinced her to post it. I really liked it, but I wouldn't call it her best. A lot of her more recent poetry has used more plant/organic images. I want to see where she can go with that. She really is good - you should see the stuff she hasn't posted!

11. My dear BlueIris...
Thanks, sweetie!

Khash is right, though...

I can do better...

But still, I thank you!

There are some really good images in here...

Thanks for coming by!
