Feedback, please! Web site construction
http://www.metaphysicalbakesale.com/index.html

I'm not quite ready to go online with everything (I have somethings ready to go, but not up, have been working on inventory sheets and photos)

anyway, if anyone would like to look at the intro pp. and tell me if you like the layout, or if you have any suggestions, pls let me know.

I didn't realize until I started this up that my version of the domain stuff won't let me write my own code, so I had to pick from some standard css layouts, colors, fonts, etc. I wish I could change some things, but it's not worth the expense to do so.

The montage at the top is from me, not the web site builder and is made up of "found" objects - this is a project that I have a lot of material for, but I'm not sure if I want to use their blogger for this or just use blogspot. I need to see what the webbie place offers on that one.

If anyone has experience doing this sort of thing and has any useful information to pass along, I would appreciate that, too.

The site will sell mostly gift book items... collectible books of all types. I do plan to put some art for sale there too from some people I know, but first things first.

thanks in advance for your insight!

1. Looks good. It may be a bit to wide though. I could just read metaphysical bake
on my browser window. Also the navigation bar should all be in one line. But you broke it up for arts sake so I guess you know what you are doing there. I found the black text of the tan background a little to hard to read. Can you do a lighter background?

Looks good was my first impression. I love the collage.

lighter background for the main text. What does the masthead look like to you? Does the bottom right hand pic drop down lower than the left side, or is that just me?

3. The bottom right drops down, and the menu bar with it.

4. It's cluttered, and you seem to be having some formatting issues
with the top menu bar, there.

I would prefer a cleaner look with fewer colors and graphics, but that's subjective. Either way though, you need to correct the code for that top banner, where it drops down on the right side of the screen.

5. thanks for the feedback
I thought it was so pitiful that no one had the nerve to say something. thanks for getting up the nerve. :)

yeah, I thought it was sort of cluttered-looking too - but I do want the collage b/c it's what the site is about in a lot of ways.

the code isn't wrong on the header. It's made that way for this layout. It's supposed to "come off the header" onto the page. If I put more pictures on the left side, the main page links are still in the same place, so then it's worse.

I was thinking about going with plain white, but I have to find a suitable layout/color - again, I don't get to choose. I also don't get to choose the place for the tabs unless I list them all as "main pages."

Okay, I'll have to mess around with it some more.

thanks again. I really appreciate your notes.

colors for fonts is something I have to do, but it's a lot, lot less cluttered.
