I have a journal and, in a word, it is an ecletic vanity journal, in which I keep things that mean something to me. I keep it purely for my pleasure and I doubt anyone looks at it but me.

What about you and your journal? Tell us about it. Come on. Brag a little :D :hi:

1. Well ,,, sheesh. I guess journals aren't the big deal around here
that I thought they were. I thought were kind of a blog type thing and people would WANT to have a chance to "promote" theirs. Oh well...another sinker, brought to you by TA :D

2. I think if you used the word "Blog" in the title, it would have helped. :)
When I see "journal", I think of a paper journal. Which is probably going out of fashion these days. :D

3. Yeah, you are right...too late for edit now.
I had a blog but, I haven't posted in it in a long time...I just use the journal feature here. It is all I need. How about you? Do you have a journal here?

4. I use the journal feature sort of as a "public bookmark" feature.
Threads I post that I want to remember, and want others to be able to look at too.

I have a blog separate from DU. Actually, I have two. A public one my husband and I both write for our families to keep up with our comings and goings, and a personal blog that is only available to friends I designate. I wouldn't share them here. :D

12. Yes
but the Smokies are a bit higher and wider than the Black Forest. You just have more space in the U.S. even for your mountains.

16. Mine began when I was travelling long term.
Those notebooks are interesting to read back through. But I continued while in one place. Real mundane. I'm thinking of destroying those.

17. I have a hand written journal I've kept since 9th grade...
I have a hand written journal I've kept since 9th grade (1980). It's not so much a catalog of my opinions or emotions, just some day to day accounts of some of the more... 'dramatic' things that have happened to me in my life, or a few jotted notes of what I did on a particular date that I knew I'd want to remember. It also contains numerous lists of things-- movies I'd wanted to see, albums I'd wanted to buy, etc.

There's really not much about it that is overtly political or emotional; but re-reading one or another particular entry truly excites some long-dead synapses. For example, one entry, dated Oct. 28, 1987 reads, "Angela said "yes"! Now for the hard part, making sure she's not making a mistake." May not mean much to the casual reader, but it allows me to relive one of the most exciting days of my life.

(Post-script: she did make a mistake, but years later she told me I was the "best mistake she ever made...")

:)
