2. Stupid question: the master volume hasn't been muted, has it?

4. Did you check the speaker plug on the back?
Have you restarted the computer?

5. Try putting in a music CD,
My laptop sometimes will not have sound when I stream a radio station.

The station is streaming but no sound.

So I put in a music CD, and then removed it.

Restart the computer, might work for you.

6. The sound tubes are probably blocked with leftover bits of sound. Try some compressed air.
Side note: I remember when I took a trip to Ireland as a small child, the in-flight music was transferred through pneumatic tube headphones instead of electronic headphones. I bet those got clogged up all the time. :)

7. Also, do you have a sound card or onboard sound?
If a sound card, try removing the sound card, using canned air to clean the connectors and re-inserting the card.

Worst case scenario is you have to re-install your sound drivers. If *that* doesn't work, then you just have it muted somewhere.
Hell, it took me an hour once to figure out that while my master volume was normal my wave channel was turned down to zero.
