1. I like hearing about positive Rottweiler stories
My dog is part Rottweiler and is very sweet. Not sure she would adopt another animal, though.

3. Some breeds get a bad rap.
But nurture can overcome nature.

18. That fellow looks a bit like my dog Jack. Any idea what else is in the mix?
Edited on Thu Jun-26-08 09:27 AM by hedgehog
I always thought Jack was mostly some sort of hound with possibly a touch of Dalmatian. He's got Beagle markings, but he does get spots across his saddle. His left ear folds down, his right ear stands up straight.

4. Ever see the Far Side cartoon with Mary?
It was titled "Mary had a little lamb" and it had Mary sitting down to dinner cutting a slice of meat.

And from the Cook's Thesaurus:
Coming from a young animal, lamb meat doesn't need to be marbled with fat to be exquisitely tender and delicately flavored. Perhaps lamb would be more popular if more people knew how to cook it properly. Lamb should be roasted at no more than 325ºF, or it gets tough and smells gamy. Select cuts with pink meat and white fat--red meat and yellow fat indicates an older and tougher lamb.

8. The story is so sweet.
It's good to see Rotweillers getting good press.

My brother's Rottweiler, Zoe, is so docile that she let his kids try to ride her when they were toddlers. She's friendly, too--my cockatiel, who isn't nearly so friendly, bit her on the nose when she tried to sniff him.

10. 170 pounds? That's a big Rottweiler.
I though my Rottie was big at 107 pounds. That dog would dwarf her.

15. My Pit-Rottie X Weezee tries to nurse kittens
and any other baby animals you bring to her. Funny thing is, she was spayed at 6 months, but that didn't squelch her maternal instincts any. Her sidekick Deuce the Dorky Pibble believes it's his job to bathe the kittens, too...if we have to foster baby animals, those two do a good job keeping an eye on them.

Deuce is really funny this way...We had a huge clutch of bearded dragon eggs in an incubator surrendered to us a couple years ago. Some of the hatchlings didn't make it (normal occurrence, lizards lay a lot of eggs to increase the odds of survival.) My wife had placed the dead hatchlings in the bathroom trash. Deuce found them and lined them all up in a row on the bathmat, and when my wife walked into the bathroom Deuce was laying there with the dead lizards in front of him, and he huffed disgustedly at her, as if to say "those don't belong in the trash momma!" That was funny!

Animals are smarter than a lot of people give them credit for...and in many ways put us to shame.

19. Guiness adopted our little bitey cat when she was a kitten. Now she
comes in and grooms him and Jack. We think this is one confused little critter!
