*WHEW* no Beer Drought In Germany
THAT was close :bounce:

<snip>

BERLIN (Reuters) - German brewers are reassuring thirsty consumers there is no imminent danger of beer running out despite rumors that surging demand in the summer heat has exceeded the supply.

"Brewers are working around the clock. Overtime is common, people are working weekends, and breweries are on triple shifts," said Erich Dederichs, managing director of the German Beer Brewers' Association.

Bremen-based Becks announced delivery delays earlier this week and several newspapers have run front-page stories forecasting a drought of the nation's favorite drink. However, Dederichs said Germans should not worry.

"Perhaps a person's preferred brand will be sold out, but no one has to fear that beer as a whole will run out in Germany," Dederichs said.

with the hot, dry temps. Should be a banner year for the Mosel, Ruhr, Saar, Alscace wine crops.

20. German beer=The Best
We should be ashamed to call the stuff we make here beer, compared to what they brew in Germany. And German beer doesn't traveol well, you simply have to go over there and sample it first hand.

23. I disagree...US beer has undergone a revolition!
There is a wave of local brewreys reviving trad styles of brewing. The days of utility grade watered down pilsner are long gone!

22. Beer isn't the problem: bottles are
The bottles are running low; the deposit system is hard pressed to return them in time.

We had the hottest day ever today, so no improvement soon.

And the Breweries tried to raise the price; their excuse: barley got more expensive. Someone calculated however, that the barley price makes up less than a percent of the beer production costs. So the issue has been defered.

Berliner Weisse is.

I won't say no to a Weizen tough.

And it is hotter than ever here (I'm waiting for the temperature to drop, so that I can sleep (on Edit: an anime special night on a major network isn't helping either)).
