Rachel Ray - ????? WTF?

Personally I can not tolerate this woman. I used to like her but then a metamorphosis occurred... She got herself a talk show, which blows. She got herself a couple of other shows on FoodTV then the blitheringly lame magazine. If that wasn't enough she has food products galore... Her empire must come down! Rachel Ray has a GOD COMPLEX.

Her chirping E-V-O-O is like fingernails on the blackboard....:wtf:

BTW, as someone who loves cooking and who has been classically trained...The woman's cooking is mediocrity exemplified - If you want to achieve mediocrity, she is the go-to person.

..I remember her earliest shows, when she wa starting out, and she was so much calmer and low-key. Then she got famous, and her personality switched into twitchy high-gear mania. Her voice became more shrill, her movements more antic and annoying... Seriously, if you see her early shows, she was very reasonable. Today, she's so manic and loud. I can't watch her for more than 30 seconds.

increasingly annoying, but I have to admit, I have a couple of her cookbooks and the recipes that I have tried are good. Nothing fancy but they were good and it only took me about 40 minutes to prepare and I'm pretty inept with a knife.

And her cooking may be mediocre to you, but for those with a limited amount of time to prepare meals (and limited skills), her recipes work. I'd rather people cook Rachael Ray food than eat prepared foods.

That said, her personality can be grating, but there actually is substance there, in my opinion.

since she has started to sell Olive Oil as 'EVOO', I wish she'd get off my TV screen before I break it with my shoe. :P

Not only that, it took at least 45 minutes (or more). She must not include the "cleaning up as you go" part or something.

The recipe was bland to the nth degree, also (it was kind of a chicken and tomatillo nacho thing).

And dude, of course she's mediocre, she's a celebrity. Celebrity and mediocrity more often than not goes hand in hand.

not been to my house for dinner. I dare say, you would be surprised that Gilligan can cook - I find RR's constant banter to be about as interesting as a pile of laundry. Her recipes are pretty middle of the road.

I think she's great. I think all of her shows are great. I have never read her magazine, so I can't comment on that other than the fact that there is no need for her mug to be on every cover. That annoys me no matter what person it is.


She never says she was a chef. She aims to offer people cheap and easy ways to fix meals for their families. In that aspect, I think she does indeed do her job well.

Is she overexposed? Of course.

Could she be annoying? We all could.

One can simply choose not to watch her shows or buy any of her products.

Personally, she irks me - but she is trying to offer people a way to feed their families quickly and on the cheap, so I can't knock her for encouraging a sit-down dinner in 30 minutes.

so I can't judge her cooking but my sister has a few of her cookbooks and has made several of the meals and they are indeed cheap and easy. They may not take exactly 30 minutes but close enough.

even in 30 minutes or less - especially if you don't count the grill heating up time :D

I thought the terrorist scarf thing was the dumbest thing I had ever heard - just add it to the reasons I hate Dunkin' Donuts....

but I'm addicted to DD's iced coffee. It's just not something I can control. :shrug:

I hate DD for pushing the value meal with TWO donuts. No one really needs two donuts for breakfast (and I felt this way even before I started WW)

They're sort of odd contrasts to one another.

I've never watched her but I heard an interview with her on the radio once and she sounded dangerously manic :scared:

I wouldn't want to spend much time around her, but I'm sure she's great at handling food!

and I'm not all hot for her looks or whatever us males are supposed to focus on. I just like her.

As for everything she's doing, she knows that celebrity is quickly over, so she's striking while the iron's hot, amassing as much of a fortune as she can before she fades away. Can't blame her for that.

Now if she says she's voting for the other side then... I might get out the metaphroical knives.
