25. Yes, rain is EVIL!
A terrible invention designed to destroy them. Taking her for walks when it's just drizzling, you'd think I was torturing her. Tail tucked, crying, the whole bit. The only time it is even a little bit okay is when she has her raincoat on. I know, I know, clothes on dogs, but it's the only way we can get a decent walk in when it's rainy (and, being in Pittsburgh, that's most of the year!).

Edited on Fri Jul-11-08 09:35 PM by DarkTirade
They hopped through the back door at my job a few years back. :) One was skinny and the other one was chubby, and I'm a geek so I immediately thought of Sam and Frodo as names for them.

Then I found out Sam was female. Whoops.

16. These are great for tree froggy type pets.
They don't have irritants in their skin or anything so it's safe to touch them now and then if you have to (although best not to do too much. Don't wanna scare 'em too much.), they've got a pretty good lifespan for an amphibian, and they're just fun to watch. :)

Mine were interesting because they seemed to have distinct personalities. Frodo was afraid of everything. Sam was obsessed with food. Which is why she was chubbier than he was. :) I had to start keeping the crickets in another room because no matter where I'd put them, Sam would find them and try to jump through the glass or screen to get to them. Once she got to a certain size it got a lot easier to clean the tank though, because Frodo would hop on her back and hang on when he was afraid. Up until then it was about an hour-long chore to clean the tank. It took 25 minutes to catch Frodo and put him in the temporary tank, 2 seconds to pick Sam up and put her in there, 10 minutes to clean the tank, and another 25 to get Frodo back out of the temporary tank and into the regular one, and another 2 seconds to get Sam back in there. Once he started clinging on to her when he was afraid it got a helluva lot quicker. I'd just reach in and he'd grab onto her. Then I'd pick her up (with him still clinging on) and put them in the temporary tank. Clean it, put 'em right back in. Sometimes he wouldn't have even let go yet by the time I was done cleaning it.

30. They probably thought "Finally, a dog our size to play with!"
Foo TOTALLY thinks he's a big dog. He loves to play with Agatha, he cries if he goes past our house and we're out but she's not! Agatha is scared of big dogs (she's pretty submissive to ALL dogs, but big ones seem to really scare her), he is rough and tumble with her AND he'll play chase with her, so she's over the moon anytime he comes to play. He's got such a fantastic personality (most BT's I've met seem to). The only issue is that Foo and Baxter (a neighbors Cairn mix, Agatha's #1 best bud) do NOT like each other, so we sometimes miss our informal playtime when we're over at Baxter's house.

Who does service dog training and her husband has a service dog. She has an Aussie and a pit-mix right now as their service dogs, and she's training another aussie and a mutt that was a foster puppy who ended up showing a talent for it so they kept him to train him up. Her dogs are crazy cool, they help her husband put on/take off his socks, get up to a sitting position from laying down, all kinds of amazing stuff, things I didn't know they could be trained to do! Dogs really are awesome!

He wouldn't move for nothing. Was laying in the middle of the parking lot, and this family pulled up in front of him, got out of their car and started saying "we didn't hit him, honest!" Well about that time the owner walks up and says "aw, don't worry, he's been dead for a couple days, we just ain't had the heart to bury him". My stomach still hurts from laughing so hard.

My weimies are ten months (Dusty, who we adopted about two weeks ago) and three months (Rada).

Lucinda the schnauzer is almost six years old.

Tucker's probably about four now.

And Roscoe, the kitten, is about three months old, too.

Thank you for the compliment! I'll pass on your kind words about Tucker to his daddy.

to get him up to his current weight. I found him on a busy highway and brought him home. He is very picky about dog food, prefers table food. I know bad for him, but at least he is now eating and picking up weight after almost 8 months with me. Being dumped off I can understand his bouts of anxiety.

If he's alone a lot, he might like it! Or a cat pal.

My schnauzer loves our cats. They play together like children...she'd rather play with the cats than the weimies.

Bless you for rescuing him and giving him a great home. No arguments from me about tablescraps...my vet even said this...when you have dog that won't eat and needs to put on weight, let him eat whatever he will.

Now I work evenings and sleep later during the day. This has been going on for 3 months now. It doesn't seem to be getting any better at all. He has taken to urinating on furniture..not a good thing. Leave puppy pads down for him but it does no good. Personally I think he is doing it out of anger at being left alone.

94. Is he neutered?
He is probably more insecure about being alone, than "angry", especially since he was abandoned.

Bringing in another dog could lead to more marking in the house, especially if he isn't neutered.

I wouldn't give him free run of the house if he is marking. Can you confine him while you are away? And when he does use a puppy pad, praise him like it's the most wonderful thing in the world! You can eventually get him to just pee on a puppy pad by the door or in a certain corner.

He is very, very cute! Good luck!

When I vacation once a year a friend keeps him for me that has another dog there. They say no problem at all, he follows the other dog outside and does his business. He loves to be around other dogs that is why I thought maybe another pup would keep him company. This pup, along with the cats in this household are spoiled rotten. My kids are grown so they have become my children.

121. Worse.
Which is why we leave it to Mark. Who loves us (for the money we spend) but also says "oh no" when it's time for them to come in. My guys are much taller than standard and it's hard to work on them even though they are very good and never object to anything he does to them (ear cleaning, nail clipping, trimming hair between pads, anal sac expression).

Odile is smaller, standard size, easier to groom but is a pain in the butt. She doesn't like people messing with her feet, ears, face or rear end.

I grew up with Goldens, and even after a thorough brush-out, it would take less than 2 days for golden tumble weeds to start blowing through the house again! I can do *anything* to Agatha except clip her nails (she hates clippers), she will only tolerate me dremeling her nails one foot a day.

Are they a male and a female?

The breeder we got the male from indicated that
the males sometimes have a hard time co-habiting.

Does she have cottony hair like Bella? Looks like it.

We adopted her from a family that was going to take her to the dog pound because she "bit" a toddler. She's never bitten anyone in her life, but probably scratched the kid when she was trying to snuggle. Those assholes kept her in the basement all the time and when we got her, she didn't even know how to play.

Agatha love cuddling under blankets, I always have to put one in her crate, she whines if there's not one in there!

172. Yes, they are. I am not sure I could own another breed.
We get ours from breeder friends when they have one that just doesn't quite have the work ethic or is injured. We had already taken in a different malinois who suffered a spinal embolism. She passed at 13. This is one of her many half sister and brothers. They all come from a grand champion sire named Freddy who lives outside of San Antonio. I think Freddy is retired from showing now. He is just a stud. Tough life. :)

160. Macy puts up with us so well....
We had dress up in fun hats day...

She helps me in the kitchen

This isn't how we normally feed her, but whenever we fill up her food container, she runs up and has a free for all!

167. Macy is the same way
we rescued her from some guy in Kentucky who kept her on a rope, possibly beat her (based on how she reacts toward quick arm motions), and definitely did not feed her enough. Now, she eats almost everything, although is not too fond of celery, and I don't let her have things which are bad for her.

It's pretty cute though - when I drop something edible on the floor, if she doesn't hear it herself (a rarity), I say "clean up in aisle two!" and she comes running. lol.

170. Here are mine

Petey, 13 years old, our old crippled cattle dog. Frisbee hasn't been kind to him.

Crystal, 8 years old, she loves water. We've even participated in a Splash Dogs competition. Finished dead last but had fun.

Asta, 13 years old, the matriarch of the pack

Tillie, 5 years old, another cattle dog. Loves to play and loves her people, but is pretty suspicious of strangers.

We have a two year old weimeraner mix as well, but no pics of him online yet.
