When did Freepers invade and conquer Fark?

I used to be a dedicated TFette, long ago in another lifetime. Now I occasionally visit, and I am always shocked at the number of Freeper nutcase apologists in the comments section.

Dammit, Fark used to be a fine, upstanding humor website filled with rabble-rousing liberal twenty-somethings with l33t Photoshop skillz. Now it's like an auxiliary Freeper echo chamber.

I am not pleased. x( :mad: :grr:

youtube, car forums (i used to lurk on dozens at one time), sports team forums (which i hardly ever post on anymore), and elsewhere...

They might call themselves that, but I can't imagine a true Libertarian supporting McCain with such ferocity. Only Freepers are so stupid that they would COMPLAIN about the media allowing McCain to totter off here and there without a camera bank to catch his every bumbling gaffe and mistake.

Freepers seem to think that media coverage = WIN!

Unfortunately, that doesn't work when your candidate is stupid, demented, and has a voice like an elderly Mickey Mouse doing his best Reagan impression.

there's no better clearinghouse for weird Area Man Robs Liquor Store With Live Alligator-type stories, and there's usually an interesting cross-section of commenters-but the political articles are toxic, just ceaseless torrents of Usenet-level freepery.
