Anyone ever won an Oscar posthumously?
Edited on Sat Jul-19-08 04:49 AM by ButterflyBlood
Because if not, after seeing The Dark Knight, I must say it'll be a true travesty if Heath Ledger does not become the first. WOW. If I ran the Academy I'd just cancel the competition for Best Supporting Actor now and announce it being awarded to him.

1. Peter Finch won an Oscar for Best Actor for "Network"
But he was alive when the nominations were announced. He died before the Oscar telecast.

Heath Ledger, if he was nominated, would be the first time a deceased actor or actress would be nominated. There is a large sentiment for Heath Ledger to be nominated for his performance in "The Dark Knight".

2. Yup.
Peter Finch for playing Howard Beale in Network. That movie's even more timely now than when it was made.

3. I haven't yet, but I'm not giving up hope.
Of course, I'll have to be in a film posthumously, too, before I'm in the running...........

4. Conrad Hall
He was the cinematographer for The Road To Perdition, and he died before those Academy Awards.
