Songs you remember hearing for the fist time
Obviously there's a first time for every song but for some reason some first hearings are more memorable.

Barracuda by Heart (1977)
I was in high school and I remember turning on the radio and catching it in the middle. It was definitely a "holy crap, who the hell is this?" moment. They announced it was Heart at the end. I knew 'Crazy on You' and 'Magic Man' but 'Barracuda' just plain rocked, probably because I was already a Zeppelin fan and the influence was pretty obvious.

Money for Nothing by Dire Straits (1985)
I was returning to work from lunch and the station I was listened to said they had a new song from Dire Straits. I remember sitting in my car in the parking lot listening to it. I was already a big Dire Straits fan.

Bank of Bad Habits by Jimmy Buffett (1995)
I was in Port Townsend with my buddy. We had just toured http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Missouri_(BB-63)">"Mighty Mo" for the fiftieth anniversary of the ending of WWII. My buddy had run into a store to pick up a twelve pack (we were going to be camping at Fort Townsend) and I was waiting in the car. They announced they had a new song by Buffett and it was an instant favorite of mine.

Funny how some things stick in your mind.
