The beagle is SOOO smart! She can predict the weather.

It being my day off, I didn't set my alarm for this morning. But at 7:30, the beagle is on my bed INSISTING she needs to go out. I try to calm her down and ask for another hour or so, but she's having none of it--which is unusual for her. Jut then, I hear thunder off in the distance, so I get up and we head downstairs. I open the door and she runs out, gets to the bottom of the porch steps, does what she needs to do, and hightails it back to the door. Just as the door closes, a deluge begins. Then amazing winds (the TV weather guy says there was a gust of 90 mph)! And the beagle knew it was coming. Don't tell me beags aren't smart!

1. Instincts are wonderful

Its more about their senses being much more accute than ours. Not intelligence per se. I'm not saying dogs are dumb, but most animals are much more attuned to the environment thena we are. Its also thought some animals can feel earthquakes before we can--vibrations and such.
