4. No.
Miles are a measure. If you can measure your value of that relationship and barter between the two, then the value is for naught.

13. That's a good way to look at it
I'd told myself that a long distance relationship will never happen again, and it may not, but I appreciate the feedback.

6. yes!!
but it's NOT too far to travel to SEE if the potential is there for a relationship. :) It takes a while for a relationship to grow IMHO. Distance means very little these days. My husband and I were in different countries and cultivated our relationship. We married after 2 years. We celebrated 8 years this past March.

good luck to you.

8. no, but it sucks
My girlfriend and I have been together for three years, and have lived in the same place for only about a year of that (not counting month-long visits). Most of the time we've lived in different countries. I won't lie to you that the further away we've been, the harder it's been. Right now we're only one time zone apart, but still not close enough for visiting to not involve expensive flights. Starting in septermber we'll be 8 time zones apart, and that's going to suck. We just try to see each other as much as possible and keep in touch.

33. Yes you do. You do have to confirm that your relationship translates to the physical.
Luckily for, ours did!

Best wishes to you! At the very least, you'll have seen something new, someplace new and taken a chance. Not much wrong there. At best, you will be REALLY lucky! :woohoo:

38. If you have to ask yourself the question
Then it is to far.
If the person curls your toes and ignites your heart, then no distance is to far.

40. Nope...
I once dated a Londoner when I was living in DC, who had been born in Auckland where her family still lived and who wanted to get married in New Zealand. 5K miles is nothing.

Distance; like age, credit ratings and IQ; is merely a number. People are more important than numbers. Good Luck.

So...5,000 miles. Is she Alaskan or Argentinian?

I made the mistake once of thinking that it was too far (and other complications).
It was the biggest mistake of my life. At least try it if you feel strongly about this person.

46. Not if it's Love
1983 High school sweetheart's dad gets sent to Florida, and I'm accepts at UC Berkeley.I decide to propose. All concerned give it 0 chance.

1988 After 4.5 years of long distance bills that financed the fiber optic revolution, and only seeing my GF on winter, spring, and summer breaks, and being totally monogamous (yes, I'm serious), we get married.

2008 The 20th anniversary is in August. I cannot afford the $56000 saphire necklace at Costco. Have any ideas?

48. After a year of a 1500 mile long distance relationship
with someone who made my toes curl and my stomach drop when I thought of her

to someone who came to say they didn't love me anymore, and being 1500 miles away....

5000 miles sounds like the moon, and the more I learn about the person, the more I realize that it is an impossibility.

She has a kid, an ex husband and won't be able to move

I have a kid, a stbx wife, and won't be able to move

the question I wrote last night was more a hypothetical as I thought about the logistics etc. of trying to have a relationship with someone across the pond.

I think Hypno is right

most people won't leave their village to have a relationship.

It's amazing that as hurt as I was when my 1500 miler ended that I would even think about it.

yanno, fuck it, just fuck it!

I'd do it for someone really fantastic--and here's the key--who was also crazy about me.
