Just what the world needs: A sequal to "Top Gun".
Good news: Tom Cruise will be our wingman!

http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2008-07-21/celeb/1

Tom Cruise is preparing for take-off - after he was reportedly approached to star in a sequel to 1986 hit movie Top Gun. The actor has been asked to reprise his role as cocky fighter-pilot Maverick, 22 years after the first film. A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor - and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot."

11. Well, somebody dug up Indiana Jones and someone else knocked toothless Rocky back into the ring...
Why not let Tommy go back up without a parachute? After all, his career is already gone, he won't fall very far as he's already hit the bottom of the runway...

13. Just in: the plot arc for Top Gun II
Tom Cruise stars as Maverick, once the hottest carrier pilot in the fleet. Unfortunately, he was stationed on USS Saratoga during the Gulf War. After the war, a board of inquiry found Lieutenant Mitchell guilty of allowing the ship to sink three times during its deployment to the Gulf and sentenced him to fly cargo planes full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong for the rest of his career.

Twenty-two years later, the movie studio realizes they need money and quick. So the board of inquiry determines Mitchell was actually on R&R in Bahrain each time the ship sank and reinstates him to fighter duty. The nearly fifty-year-old lieutenant is assigned to Fighter Weapons School at Miramar because the whole concept doesn't work if he's assigned to a carrier steaming out of Norfolk.

Fantastic scenes of F/A-18s flying into the sunset are interspersed into a really lame story about Mitchell trying to decide whether to throw the cute lieutenant out of the Navy for flying like an idiot or risk his own career by taking her to a Scientology retreat at the No Tell Motel so she can horizontally pray to Xenu.

In the end, the cute apprentice and the ancient master spring into action over a country that has only minimal oil reserves, where they will challenge and defeat all of its air force's aircraft. Viewers are invited to suspend disbelief because, the morning after the film opens, some newspaper critic will rightly point out that in the actual country Maverick and Sweetness attacked, its air force has nine airplanes and six of them have "Cessna" written on the side.

14. I think I just lost my will to live
Here's the question, though: Will we be treated to the "blue tongue" again?

:scared:

Does Mr. Cruise have any earthly idea of the amount of contempt most thinking people have for him?
