Since valuing etiquette and manners is elitist scumfuckery, I'm adopting a Cambridge accent as well.
Might as well go whole hog if I'm gonna be labeled a superficial elitist. And I'll take up polo, and use only loose leaf for afternoon tea.

You mean East Anglian? That's not really posh, being fairly similar to a London accent. Perhaps you mean one associated with Cambridge University? That would be more properly called an Oxbridge accent, since it's typical of those who attended either Oxford or Cambridge Universities, but is not representative of the accents found in the countryside surrounding Oxford or Cambridge. Perhaps you really mean "received pronounciation," which is what the "Upper Class" English accent is generally called.

There, was that elitist enough for you? :evilgrin:

23. Actor Tim Curry's natural accent is pretty close to the Cambridge.
"Dine-tine" for "downtown" and stuff like that. Even for Brits, it's a pretty posh accent.

It's good to feel desired. :blush:

I'm 2/3 the way there...and functionally, if not actually, a librarian. (I free-lance as a text-researcher occasionally...one good benefit of being a crack-Googler with photographic-recall, a broad knowledge, poly-glot and being well-read. Basically a research librarian without the credentials.)

Alas, my accent is as "New Haven" as one can get.

i can pretty much tailor my accent to whatever location i'm in -- be it southern redneckish, northern ehs, northeast cah pahk, or even english cockney. yeah, i'm cool.
