... because people won't remember them? All the artists that never made it big but made great music will eventually fall down the memory hole and disappear forever.

I listen to a lot of music, and I have fairly eclectic tastes. So, every time I hear a great, old song from an artist I've never heard before, I always get a little depressed because I know that most people haven't heard it either. I know that eventually the people that know of the song will get fewer and fewer until no one remembers it anymore.

That shit is depressing!

1. And one day the pyramids will be worn down to sand.
But that day is not today.

3. Yes, and I get sad about the lost art, too.
And the multitude of creatures that will go extinct... in my lifetime. And the local wineries that are now foreign-owned. And that diners are all but extinct. And... well, change happens.

4. Are you thinking of going the packrat route?
If so, I can't blame you. I have those spells, myself.

Here's one song for you: My Rainbow Life by Dekoboko Hajime (aka John Zorn) and Yamantaka Eye on the Tzadik CD Nani Nani. 99% of DUers have never even heard of this CD. But the song I mentioned is one of the most avant-garde yet poignant jazz pieces I've ever heard. It takes you into a piano bar at 3 in the morning where you hear the one remaining patron still trying to be the life of a party that has already left, with only the band and the bartender left to bask in his presence. At least that's how the song reaches me.

5. Do you think in 50 years they will still have radio stations devote to
the 60s & 70s? I do. That stuff never gets old.
