Yikes!!! My computer won't print out tomorrow's communion service,
and I can't figure out why!! If I don't get this fixed, I'll either have to wing it (possible, but would rather not), or fumble my way through the worship book liturgy (Do I use "prayer A" or "prayer B"...remember not to read the rubrics outloud...etc...etc!). I'm sure there's some lesson here about not printing important worship documents in the middle of Saturday night, but I refuse to learn it!

4. It was a paper jam...way back in the recesses of the thing where I didn't see it at first.
This is why I should do this when my assistant is around. She speaks fax/copier/printer better than I do.

11. Sermons I can do. I never preach from notes. But communion, well,
there are certain elements you're supposed to have...an invitation, institution, consecration, epiclesis...too much detail and not enough free-form for this brain. For the sacraments, I need cribsheets!

15. We celebrate once a month. We do have a Book of Worship,
but are not bound by it, nor required to use it. It's strongly suggested--but again, not required--that our communion services include the elements mentioned in the World Council of Churches' "Baptism, Eucharist, and Ministry" document (often referred to as "The Lima Document", or simply "Lima"). I try to do that, but I also try to be creative enough that the communion liturgy isn't the same every month. Sometimes I find written liturgies, often on my denomination's website, which posts new liturgies from time to time; or write my own, again trying to follow the Lima guidelines. It's one area of worship where I try to be both creative and worshipful.

12. back in the old days
people would WRITE what they were going to say, on paper, using a pen or a pencil or quill. I know, it sounds crazy...

14. Yes, they did. Now we have something called "computers"
that make the task easier. Especially for those of us with tremors that make writing difficult.

Thanks, as always, for your kind input.

17. I"m just funnin' with ya
I'm the same way. My handwriting has gotten just awful because I NEVER write anything.

At work I scratch little notes to myself and half the time I can't even read my own notes.

19. I actually do have a mild tremor in my right hand, called "essential tremor".
It isn't constant, but when it kicks in I can't even hold a pen or pencil, let alone write legibly. My neurologist says I should take a swig when it gets bad, because alcohol is the best calmative for it. I'm quite fond of my neurologist. :)

'Night, MF :hi:
