Longtime Braves announcer Skip Caray has died

ATLANTA - Skip Caray, a voice of the Atlanta Braves for 33 years and part of a family line of baseball broadcasters that included Hall of Famer Harry Caray, died in his sleep at home on Sunday, the team said. He was 68.
The cause of death was not immediately known, but various health problems had limited Caray to calling only Braves home games this season.
"We've all lost a very good friend," Braves manager Bobby Cox said. "For me, he was a good buddy — at the park and away from the park. We always had a lot of great laughs. He will be very sorely missed."

There is a nice story about him at the following link that reminds me of why he was such a beloved part of the Braves franchise. He hasn’t been on the air nationally since 2007 but he will be missed by all who knew him. RIP, Skip.

1. I listened to him every night for years.
He taught me inside baseball. Go well, Skip.

2. RIP Skip
When cable and TBS arrived, it was almost like being in another world. Skip and Ernie Johnson in the days of Bob Horner, Dale Murphy and Phil Niekro.

You helped broaden my baseball world Skip. I'm forever grateful.

Say hi to Dad for me please. :loveya:

3. I remember those days too, living in Tallahassee watching the Braves nightly
We were a Nielsen family for a week and the only three things in our diary were the Braves, the Olympics and Headline News; in that order. Loved watching "Airmail" Murphy send one out to Chief "Nock-a-homa" in his tepee in left field!
