1. now I have to show up, don't I?
just kidding.

I assume that the closest subway stop being Grand Central means that we can walk there from Grand Central?

Plus everyone should know by now what Cal Peg looks like.

(I'll be the tall guy coming in the door with a really pretty woman.)

20. Actually, I have a tendancy to play characters that are kinda multi-class in some way or another.
I.E., ones that are okay at some things and okay at other things, but rarely great at any one thing. :P Bad habit, I know. Comes from too much soloing in MMOs, I suppose.

Last RPG character I had was an elven ranger type, decent with a staff up close but also had some light long-range magic attacks.

7. I've got work...
Sadly.

I think it's going to be my last day as I'm supposed to work 2 W/E a month and this will be the 10th in a row I had to work Fri. Night, Saturday or Sunday, or some combination of the above. I asked for and was promised a transfer 4 months ago that has not occurred. I was hired for the position above mine and was supposed to be promoted after a brief training at the lower level.

In a better economy, I'd pee on the counter and leave.

That's where Sarah and I will be, unfortunately. Seriously, the offer's open if any or all of you are interested. PM SarahBelle or I.

40. There's lots of places on the Jersey shore.
I didn't read DS1's post, but this is a nice, family type town (mellow, kind of what you need with five kids- three being teenagers).

I think we'll manage to hold onto to a few remnants of our fashion sense while we're there though. :)

48. It's a dry town.
They don't sell alcohol anywhere in the town itself. There's no problem with bringing alcohol to your house and consuming it privately though. There's tons of packies just over the city line. The town doesn't attract a party crowd though and that's more than fine for us with the kids.

Really, it's an issue for those of us who've lived in Los Angeles County and thereabouts. :D

Also, no In 'n' Out burger outlets, though the presence of the rightfully hallowed Trader Joe's there now is almost making up for that.

22. I already said I'd be there, so I will. And Cal Peg just chewed my ear into hamburger about
making sure I bring Mrs R, so I guess she'll be there too. Our older guy will be home on Sunday, so we can leave the little guy with him, and have ourselves a nice ADULT DAY OUT! With a train ride, too!

Oh, yes.

The only thing that might stop us would be, well, you know, if I have one of THOSE days...but even that shouldn't be a problem, because I'll be able to have a nice nap on train.

It'll be great to see you all.

(Hey, what the hell ever happened to Pressed Duck? I sued to love that stuff, and you NEVER see it in a Chinese restaurant these days.)

Well, I never!

Any wood carving going on there? :o

Anyway, I hope y'all have a great time. I'd be all over their chow mei fun (at $6.35? what a bargain!), for a start, if I was there. And mmmmm...spicy soup noodles. Darn, now I'm all hungry for Chinese food but too cold-afflicted to do anything about it. :(

At least I know a good place to eat when I'm in NYC (apart from that particular Italian restaurant, that dare not speak its name here, of course). In the meantime, I hope it's a gathering to remember!

:hi:

'cos, you know, coming from the cosmopolitan West, we're never quite sure if there's anything much in the way of good food out there in New York...

73. I'm going to try to meet CaliforniaPeggy at the airport tonight
and see if she wants to go out for dinner here in Manhattan.

Anyone else around and interested in a possible mini-meetup before the real meetup? :P

75. There's a chance I might drop by
My brother is in town, and he might come with me. (My partner is working.) Warning: His politics is 180 degrees different than mine, although he is enthusiastic about the concept of a DU meet-up and promises to be "polite." This is a tentative RSVP because ultimately it depends on what he wants to do tomorrow.
