11. I had Lyme twice, in 2000 and 2001
Early use of antibiotics worked like a charm. 30 days of high doses of an antibiotic (I forget which one), but I started on them within a couple days after exhibiting symptoms. It helped that I was living in a part of New York that was rife with Lyme, so they assumed it was Lyme and started the antibiotic while waiting for lab results to confirm.

But, if it's early, it should go away quick and with no long term implications.

13. That's what we are hoping is the case here. He had an achy shoulder and
headaches and an odd looking (but not typical bulls-eye) rash. After the rash persisted and grew for ten days I decided it was questionable and time to get it looked at. Glad we took care of it when we did. Doc said he'll be on antibiotics for 21 days.

Did you ever find the actual tick on you? They sure are small. :( We pulled one off of YoungerGreenKid in April, but it wasn't a deer tick as far as I could tell.

26. Never found the tick and I never got the rash
I did pull numerous deer ticks off of wife and me, we managed to keep the kids pretty tick free by restricting where they went. Our son did develop the rash but no other symptoms and was on antibiotics for a month.

15. Vibes for EGK
Plenty of antibiotics should do the trick for him, vibes or not. I know people who weren't diagnosed for a few weeks and antibiotics knocked the daylights out of it.

18. I had it about 7 years ago.
If you caught it in the early stages everything should be fine after a strong course of antibiotics.

Good thoughts for ElderGreenKid...

24. He most likely was exposed no more than 2 weeks ago since that was when the rash and pain kicked in.
I had an archeology prof in college who had it pretty seriously. He had trouble with his fingers swelling and aching, making it hard for him to clean up the pieces he'd found. He thought he might have picked up a tick while out on a dig way back when and just missed the early symptoms.

My hubby got it the first year we moved up here to Maine. We just had my older son tested two weeks ago (it came back negative), but our ped said that the previous week 7 kids had tested positive! Hope ElderGreenKid is feeling better soon!

22. yep
they tested him because he had flu like sypmtoms, but tested negative on the quick strep test. No rash, but I had picked an engorged deer tick off of him about a month ago. He is five and does NOT like me to do checks around his 'private area' so I let him put his pjs on after bath time one night (if my husband is working late I leave it up to him to check himself). The next morning he needed help buttoning his pants and there was a tick right around his pantline. ugh...

We just moved up to Camden from Phippsburg last weekend. I don't know if the ticks are any better up here than they were down there. I was picking them off all the time down there.

25. I'm in Castine and we seem to be a hotspot. There are deer running through
the trailer park frequently, so these little buggers drop off in the field where the kids play. It's a mown field too, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

27. When we lived in NY there were deer everywhere.
My husband did lawns on the side and I was sure he would get it then. We were so surprised when he got it when we moved up here (only saw one deer since we moved here! and have yet to see moose much to my disappointment. Yes, I have driven to Jackman. lol)

My mom, mom's husband who is a farmer and is outside all the time, and my dad who is never outside all have had lymes multiple times. They all live in NY.
