I wouldn't characterize myself exactly as an ex-freeper, but I was a fundamentalist evangelical Christian and a registered Republican.

I know it's in good fun, but I must protest at least a little against your poll choices. JMHO.

Post a poll for how an ex-FEC like me became a liberal. I know I'm not the only one.

Were you a fundamentalist evnavemdxs etc? What happened? I have never met one of them who became one of us..pl tell me all about it.

Got saved at age six, attended Baptist church all through childhood, went to a Baptist college (where I had my first lover -- I'm a lesbian). I used to picket "abortion clinics" and scream "don't kill your baby!" (FTR, yes, I am ashamed, but I've forgiven myself.)

I had a fucked-up childhood (like many folks) and at age 23 it began to tell on me. I fell apart, was hospitalized, and as I began putting myself together I began to question.

For the first time in my life, I began to question. Everything.

Long story short, as I progressed along through 13 years of therapy as my guide, and learned to trust myself and my own intellect, I came out on the other end a whole and healthy woman --

aware that biblical literalists rely on circular logic to "prove" the bible is what they claim it is, and aware of a great deal more.

Someday maybe I'll tell the story in detail, but that's the crux of it.
