Jewish DU'ers: Is there any reference out there for us Half-Jews?

Yes, I know, by Jewish law I am Jewish. Jewish mom, raised Catholic.

But I come from a Protestant Father, which means Protestant Law dictates I was raised Protestant. Irrelevant.

Anyway - for those of us who are half Jewish, half something else, is there any kind of resource?

1. Ummm....Protestants don't have law. That's what makes us Protestant.
What kind of resource are you looking for? Cuz, Ben Stiller is half Jewish, but I don't see him as a resource.

Seriously, best I can tell I'm a quarter jewish and a quarter native american and I don't know what the futz the other half is, but I'm assuming it's european of some sort since I look white. :)

Jewish mom, Catholic dad. We did celebrations, like Christmas and Hannukah, but religion was out. But I always felt more Jewish, because my mother's Polish immigrant parents were much closer to us than the uptight Irish grandma.

What kind of resources are you looking for?

16. I wish I knew. There are all sorts of convoluted rules, depending
on which parent was of Jewish heritage, which denomination you're asking, and whether any other circumstances apply (like being born as a child of adultery between a Jew and a non-Jew, etc.)

I am about a quarter Jewish, but on my Dad's side. My son is three-quarters Jewish--a bit from me, plus his Dad was 100% Jewish. I have no idea what *he* would be considered.

17. My kids are one quarter Jewish
but since I'm female, and my mom is Jewish, by Jewish law, they're Jewish.

I have a friend whose father was Jewish, who always seemed to be very Jewish, but who had to convert to Judaism in order to marry her Conservative Jewish boyfriend.

21. My husbands ethnic background
Is Ukrainian Jews who emigrated to Germany, and eventually to the US.

I don't know of any reference, I just made sure the kids know about the history. The Diaspora and all that. (I'm no expert, but it's pretty interesting. Sad though) He has no religious affiliation.

(BTW, Ever read Exodus by Leon Uris?)
