I may be dense but it honestly took me almost 40 minutes to figure out that this movie was a deliberate homage to a number of early eighties end of the world flicks.

Escape from New York, Road Warrior, and others come immediately to mind.

Either that or it was just horribly, shamelessly derivative of same...

Having said all that I will also say either way FUCK IT I liked it. It was everything this type of movie needs to be: FUN.

JMHO.
