2010 Camaro
I'm liking this car more and more! Even though the v8 models are going to be awsomely fast and powerful, the 3.6 v6 with 304hp will the give the current Mustang GT's a run for their money. All while getting better fuel milage! And just a hair slower than my 01 Trans Am!

3. They copped a lot from the new Charger.
I don't think it looks that great.

Maybe a different color would help it.

4. came in a little heavier than i hoped
and i'm still not sold on the 'retro' styling craze...like the current Mustang, its the type of thing that looks good the first 1-2 years after release, but bland and hideous when everyone has one and you see it 30 times a day on the way to work...

7. Do you like the new Challenger?

I will admit that if money/fuel costs were no object, I'd be in line for one.

21. Its built on the same platform as the G8.
I dunno about raw speed and acceleration, but it will hand the challengers ass when it comes to handling and braking. On the NurburBring Ring, theirs reports and articles saying its been tested on that race course, and has a lap time of 8:20, thats better than the Nissan Skyline GT-R R32, and the BMW M3 E46!

20. The new camaro will be the same for fuel costs as my trans am
I average around 22mpg and have gotten as high as 31mpg on the interstate. The new Camaro probably will be the same or a little better. But the EPA is already starting to give a real shitty fuel milage rating of 23mpg on the highway, which is bullshit. It'll get WAAAY better than that.

8. It's going to be too expensive, though.
Here's where Ford gets it right. Ford's GT is $26k, plus options. Ford lets the $45k big dogs be exclusive, and they'll sell them. Guarantee that the V8 Camaro *starts* at over $30k. They'll probably sell a good number of the base models with that 300hp six, but not many of the V8 model. Same as the Hemi Mopars today, same as the GTO they tried here for a couple years not too long ago. And that GTO was BRILLIANT based on the Vauxhall Monaro platform.

The other downside is the same as Ford's Mustang, unless it is one of the exclusive models, it will depreciate like mad.

14. The flipside of the Camaro is the Pontiac G8.
I really like that car, both the exterior and the interior. Of course it comes from Australia so maybe that explains it.

24. Ooh, down by the shift knob is a GREAT place to put small gauges!
Edited on Mon Aug-18-08 04:26 PM by Rob H.
:sarcasm:

I get that it's supposed to harken back to the originals, but WTH are they thinking with that placement? If that's where they're staying, GM should just shoehorn them into the glovebox to make reading them as inconvenient as humanly possible.

Edit: spelling.

25. Just as bad
All gadgety and fiddly. No thanks. Keep it simple, with a well organized dash with the instruments where you can see them instead of in front of the shifter. Those radio/atmosphere controls look ridiculous, like a gamepad.

19. I am NOT kidding - my 84-yo mother wants one of these
She's had Camaros since they started making them.

When she went to buy her current one (which has a t-top), the sales people refused to talk to her, thinking she was senile and had wandered over from the old-folks apartment building across the street. My dad called the manager and ripped him a new one, but they bought from the dealership anyway (not to defend sexist, ageist car salesmen, but I'm sure they did have a lot of old folks wander over to kill time).

I've suggested that maybe it's time to move to a more sedate Chrysler Sebring or Toyota Solaris, but she wants a new Camaro.

(she lent me her car to go look for my first car when I was 22, and when I came back from the test drive, I told the salesman "something's wrong with that car - when I gave it the gas, nothing happened." He said "I saw what you drove up in, and you can't expect 4 cylinders to perform like 8." So sadly, she ruined me for driving a 4-cylinder for life - I still get in a rental car and wonder "what the hell is wrong with this thing?")
