millenium force is THE RIDE!!

start with the raptor..the line isn't too bad any more.Don't bother with the gemini and corkscrew...lame.

There's one stand up rollercoaster who's name escapes me....AWESOME ride.

IF you're into getting beat up by a ride...the meanstreak is well named. A HUGE wooden rollercoaster.

Believe it or not..there is a mickeymouse type of rollercoaster...RIDE IT!!...it's a lot of fun.

magnum xl 220 is fun but it's really a one hill ride...if the line isn't long ride it.

TRUST ME!!!!...MELLENIUM FORCE!!!!!

go to the mellenium force video titled point of view

and same thing on the raptor

11. The stand-up ride Bobby's thinking of is the Mantis
And it's probably my favorite ride at CP, too. So you'll remember, the Raptor is green (and you sit down, suspended from an overhead track), the Mantis is orange (and you stand up, strapped to the back wall of an open-faced box).
I didn't think Millenium Force was as cool as the Magnum. MF is a welded-steel, cable- (and gravity-) driven coaster -- very smooth, very high (300+ foot) and very fast. Magnum is 200+ feet off the first hill, a much rougher ride than Millenium Force, but I personally liked it a lot.
I'd also suggest your first ride be the Blue Streak, which is an old (1964), small, almost quaint coaster -- one of the first you'll see (off to the left) when entering the park. It's a good way to get your Coaster Day off to a great start.
The Mean Streak was overhauled a few years back and isn't as rough as it used to be (still a pretty good ride, though).
And I liked the Gemini. Can take or leave the Corkscrew though -- other than it's fun to fly over the Midway upside-down.
As you can see, opinions vary as to which are the coolest rides. No dispute, though, that Cedar Point is still one of the best ways to spend a day. Have a great time!!
John
Never went to Cedar Point until I was 48. Still have never been to a circus.

2. It's a fun park.

Lots of great rides. I would say that bobbydem covered most of it, but the Corkscrew and Gemini are Cedar Point classics. You can't go there and NOT ride them if you've never been to the park. Take some sunscreen. It also costs extra to go to the water park.

Have a great time!!:bounce:

3. If it's hot you might enjoy the water rides
You can purchase a poncho on site if you don't want to get too wet or you can wear a swimsuit and slip out of your street clothes. They sell plastic bags for $1.00 and beach towels for $8.00.

We went on July 4th. It wasn't super hot but my daughter and granddaughter did the water rides anyway. DH and I took it easy.

That top thrill dragster & Wicked twister looked like fun too. We watched but didn't participate.

7. Top Thrill Dragster and Wicked Twister
are must-rides in my opinion. TTD, while a very short ride, with a very long line, is wonderfully intense as you get launched to 120+ MPH in four seconds, go straight up to the 420' mark, and then plunge headfirst towards the ground. I generally laugh on coasters, on my first TTD ride, I screamed!

Wicked Twister doesn't look like much, but with twists on both ends of the track, it's a unique experience.

6. I asked about Cedar Point in this thread 2 or 3 days ago
and got very little response.

I was looking at their website..... I hope to go next year.

8. It is a great park for roller coasters. I am a bit pissed at Cedar Point right now.
They bought out a small local park and  closed it down. The park had the 7th oldest operating wooden roller coaster (The Big Dipper) in the world. My parents, my children and myself all cut our teeth on that ride. Needless to say the closing of the perfectly wonderful family park stings.

Rant aside...Cedar Point is a coaster park in the extreme. There is NOTHING like the millennium. And the dragster is intense. One of the newer rides actually INVERTS as it goes down the hill. There is also a little surprise in the tunnel. ;-) Have a lot of fun and be safe.

9. It's been over thirty years since I've been...
Watch out for random episodes of disco dancing in crowd. They'll stomp all over your platform shoes.

13. Question about Soak City:
Do we have to bring our own inner tubes for the inner-tube rides, or do we rent them?

14. You don't have to do either
You pay for entry to Soak City, use of the tubes is included on any of the slides or rivers that require them.
