Harry Potter release bumped to Summer 09
Instead of this November. The fandom will not be happy.

Entertainment Weekly’s early look at the new Harry Potter movie just a got a whole lot earlier. In a last-minute move, Warner Bros. has just announced that the studio is pulling Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from its fall lineup and rescheduled it for July 17, 2009. In an irony sure to set blogger hearts beating giddily, the film graces the cover of EW’s new fall preview issue, which hits stands today. EW and Warner Bros. share a parent company, but they clearly do not share, you know, important friggin’ information.

1. My kids are already disappointed.
Disappointed would be an understatement.

2. This is usually a bad sign.
Often it means that the movie is not very good and the studio wants extra time to do re-shoots and enhance special effects.

3. Well, on the one hand
I'd rather they take the time to make the best movie possible...

On the other, there is some time-sensitive casting to be considered... so they really shouldn't muck about with these things.

I don't relish the thought of a 34 year old Danny Radcliffe putting his lucrative porn movie career on hold to return to the main stream for the filming of "Deathly Hallows."
