Wrong number!!
My telephone number is one digit off from the local number for
a well known security company.

I get phone calls ALL the time for them. Even though my
answering machine clearly states that the number is for a
residence, I still get calls and messages.

"My alarm is going off."

"I can't get my alarm to set."

"I paid my bill and I still got a statement from
you".

Ask me if I care that their alarm is going off????!!!
Especially at 4:43 a.m. like this morning.

I need some smart-arse answers to give to idiots who call, and
who after being told that they have reached a wrong number,
ask "well, do you happen to KNOW the number?"

What am I? The yellow pages???!!!

And, before anyone asks, no, I don't want to change my number.
I have elderly parents, etc. and now is not the time to make
them learn new phone numbers.

1. My old cell was one digit off from a Domino's Pizza.
I used to take people's orders. "Yup, uh huh, So one large Pepperoni and Green Peppers. Nope sir, the Credit Card machine is down, you'll have to pay cash. Your Address? Alright...30 minutes. Thank you for choosing Domino's."

I never got the call backs but they must have called Domino's eventually looking for their food.

You should tell people that you don't have a report of their alarm going off, that that's really really bad and you're dispatching a tech. Also that they must wait for the tech at a safe third-place location like a neighbor's house.

4. Our neighbor's number
used to be one number off from the local cable company. She used to get many, many calls. The cable company has since gone out of business.

5. My number uses the same numbers as a State Farm office. They
got in wrong in the yellow pages (not yellow book, PF) and I often get calls. So many, in fact, that I am thinking of going into the insurance business. I just roll with it...even when it's a late night car accident. It's actually kind of funny.

6. My phone number for years
was one off from the number of a local escort service. I would get calls usually in the middle of the night asking about my girls.

Somewhere down the line, they must have shut that place down, because one day the phone calls stopped.
