I'm too nervous to even check my e-mail...
10 months of job searching...
600+ job application...
7 interviews... only one of them really promising...

I just got an e-mail from the head of school saying that the director of studies would contact me "shortly"...

That's a yes, right? If it was a no, wouldn't she just put me out of my misery?

Gah! I don't know how much more of this I can take!

I need serious career karma... whatever you can spare!

1. Sending good vibes your way...
I know first hand how badly the job market sucks these days. I was able to score a job today (only part time, but it's something) but I know how frustrating job hunting can be. It sounds like they'll want to at least give you another round of interviews with that response...hang in there!

btw, what line of work are you in if you don't mind me asking?

2. I design educational software
but I want to move to New Zealand and I'm not certified to teach there yet, so I'm looking for a low-level teaching job until I can get another MA. I went there last week for interviews but they're in a recession and no one wants to deal with visa issues... hence 600+ applications and pretty miserable results.

I really, really want this job but the suspense is killing me.

Thanks for the good vibes!

4. Wishing you tons and tons of good career karma
Too bad we can't cut back on war and reinvest in educating our children. But I suppose educated children are less likely to want to serve as cannon fodder in the future. I hate being so cynical. Sorry. Wishing you good luck with this job. I hope you get good news soon.

5. I feel for you. I hate the wait. I just went through that.
The decision came a couple of days later than I thought it would but I got the job(this past Wednesday).

Good luck! I hope you get it.
