where I work, I've had people with Masters and PHDs forward absolute crap to me they could have easily disproved with 10 seconds research on the web. Fact is, they believe it because they WANT to believe it

6. The Republicans want to sell us our water.
I'm glad the Obama folks are catching and pointing out all the lies being spread about him.

7. hmmm. When I read that smear,
I thought it meant a tax on tap water, not bottled water. I think there's sales tax on that...

8. Probably. But private entities have been trying to buy up water supplies.
They do think of water as the new oil and look forward to owning all of the water so we will all have to pay for our water. I read about that a while back (but don't remember where), and I find that extremely scary since water is an absolute necessity for life.

12. No, if they have their way it won't be the government at all.
It would be the private sector, ie big corporations. THEY want to be the ones who own the water. As an example, Dasani water. It's owned by Coca Cola. who bought water from a town in Massachusetts, then filters it and sells it as Dasani bottled water. So the town has less water than it used to because they sold a lot of it to the Coca Cola corporation. (I'm not exactly sure how the process of 'buying' water from a town works, but apparently it can be done and that's what elements of the private sector would like to do--eventually have a monopoly on water.)
