10. In All Seriousness
I feel sorry for the VP choice. Only 1 week to go and he has to write that important speech.

So it'll be someone known for his speechifying!

12. I'm not buying it
it would be ridiculous to wait until this late to pick. You have to be positive your pick will say yes for one thing.

13. Yep
I think Obama might be confident that his choice might say yes.

My humble opinion is his VP pick is related to his 50 state strategy. Picking a VP from a weak Republican state might turn that state Blue this election, he has to also think about his VP pick also influencing the votes in other states.

There are a couple of people that might fit the bill. I personally feel strongest towards Richardson (New Mexico is definitely a weak R state)... a lot of people here and on other sites aren't sure about a AA-HA bill but Richardson might put a lot of states with lots of Hispanic people in them in play. That'll include Arizona, New Mexico, might put Texas in play, and definitely the southern parts of Florida. Nevada and Colorado might even turn blue because of Obama picking Richardson. Obama picking Richardson will help him enormously.

I think McCain's choice might be a northerner. I'm not sure who but it sounds like it might be Pawlenty (ugh) but it'll give us an opportunity to put a Dem back in the governorship!

I know that Obama knows that he'll pick up the safe Democratic states and I definitely don't think his VP pick will be from a safe Dem state, and that's contrary to his 50 state strategy. And he would be silly to pick another senator with the current senate being Democratic majority by a thread.
