My husband's grandmother is very ill, and we nearly lost her Saturday night. She's not out of the woods yet, far from it. She was found in the bathroom, out cold, Saturday morning and was transported to the hospital via ambulance. It was determined that she had blockage in one leg and there was no circulation at all. I got the call that she was being prepped for surgery, and headed for the hospital. She was considered high risk for the surgery, but the doctors had no choice. She came through the surgery, circulation restored, but her blood pressure was sky high and her breathing was extremely labored. During the night she was intubated and put on a ventilator. The next day she was still unresponsive and cold to the touch, despite 3 powerful antibiotics being pumped into her. They found a bladder infection, but knew there was another cause for the many other things going wrong with her. We were told that she might be dispersing tiny blood clots through her body, and if that was the case, there wasn't a lot they could do for her. Today, she went for a second surgery. One kidney was not draining properly due to blockage, and it was greatly enlarged. The last word that I got was that she came through the surgery with a stint in her kidney, and they are hoping that it was the cause of her being septic. Hopefully we will see a dramatic improvement tomorrow, but no one can be sure yet.
This is a woman who raised 7 kids on her own after one divorce and one husband who died. I don't know any other 74 year old stronger than her.
Whatever it is you do...positive vibes, prayer, beads....please...we need your help.
