2. Look at it this way - I'm hoping you have some kind of unemployment coming.
Your former employer is going to be paying for part of that. This is your chance to look for a better job on their dime!

9. You're probably in shock, but there are steps to take ASAP.
Can you move your skills to another industry? Get cracking with your resume and haunt the people down at your local state department of labor office. See if you can make an appointment with a job counselor who maybe can point you in a direction you're unaware of.

Also - put yourself on a strict limit on your time here. It can be addictive for someone at loose ends.

17. Welcome to the club!
I'm in my third month of unemployment. Speaking of unemployment, make sure you apply for unemployment benefits. You were laid off, meaning you lost the job through no fault of your own, so you should be eligible. The unemployment money should help you keep the wolves from your door.

33. Sorry to hear that, KG.
I quit looking for a job after I looked for one for over a year, back around '05 using my law school's placement office to help, and got exactly ONE interview. AGGGH. The jobs I've had since my first career died in '94, which I was burned out from anyway, have been shitty temp jobs and retail crapola.

For this I went to college for 12 years??? :wtf:

So i decided to sell my house and retire. Remodeling it and selling it is a major pain in the butt but it has to be done.

You'll find something to do with yourself. Good luck.
