1. helpful
but not a cure all. A lot of the stuff on the shelves at stores are not pure enough to be effective. But if you get the more purified stuff (which is the more expensive as well) it can do some good.

3. My father swears by it
he had severe arthritis about 15 years ago. He started taking Glucosamine and Chondriotin (sp?) on a regular basis and hasn't had any problems with it since. I also have another friend in his 50's who takes it to repair worn joints from sports injuries, and he says that it makes a huge difference.

4. Works for me.
Been on 'Joint Soother' for years.
Glucosomine sulphate, chondroitin, & MSM.
My knees used to sound like a bag of gravel when I flexed them.
Knuckles were stiff & sore.
No more.
I walk 3 miles every morning.
I'm 67.

6. I'm 36; ought to write a book on what NOT to do...
The chapter on human interaction and how to let others walk all over you would deserve a Pulitzer(tm)...

7. I have been taking these for a few years now
they seem to help my bad knees (little to no cartilage behind my kneecaps).

8. I don't know if it's a placebo effect, but it wasn't very effective for me.
But I'm allergic to sulfa so I only took the Glucosamine/Chondritin combo and not the one with MSM added.

I've only started developing issues since I dislocated my kneecap last winter falling right on it during an ice storm. Now it is my barometer. But the damage according to the MRI was more to the ligaments than to the cartilage.

Since I also have some weird allergies to most NSAIDS, my doc gives me Celebrex to take once a day in my "morning". It can wear off later, but it has been helpful for me to get more exercise and deal with hiking across Wal-Mart or the Atlanta Airport. I finally was able to get back into my yoga routine, which has also helped.

10. I know one thing - there's a reason why they tell you take in 3 doses
I tried that Elations stuff, where they put 1500 mgs in an 8 oz drink. Let's just say there were digestive complications.

12. I think that it is only effective if
you have OsteoArthritis, the normal wearing away of the joint cartilage and not effective at all if you have a different type of arthritis such as Rheumatoid or Psoriatic Arthritis because those are actually caused by a malfunction in your Immune system for RA and a genetic cause for PA, not use.

So, these pills may not help you unless you have OsteoArthritis.
