At the risk of destroying the lounge, I will quote from "The Best Chicken Recipes"...
a book compiled by the people who do "America's Test Kitchen". In the section on fried chicken it reads "But what kind of coating is best? To find out we tested straight flour against a panoply of contenders: matzo crumbs, ground saltines, cornflakes, Melba toast, cornmeal, and panko." -- p. 154

The fact that cornflakes were permitted in such a test shows that it is not the abomination that some might think, but actually a cromulent coating as opposed to something like bubblegum which was not tested. Any thoughts?

4. No cornflake complaints, but folks seemed to know
that it wasn't the best option.

Score one for plain flour.

5. I saw a box of precrushed cornflakes in the supermarket and laughed.

Abomination in a box!

7. I often find myself lamenting that I don't have the time or specialized equipement needed
to crush cornflakes. This will be the greatest blessing to my culinary adventures since canned soup!

Please tell me y'all know this is :sarcasm:

6. Personally, I prefer crushed graham crackers, or...
maybe grits if nothing else is around.

But, hey, to each his own.
