1. I don't get the hatred for this guy.
At least he's doing something. Who cares if he's doing it for the money. That's how things get done in this country. His plan could work. No one else is actually doing anything. They're just talking about it.

2. I get the hatred...but in this case I agree with him

I hate him for being a RW thug and funding the Swiftboaters.

However, he's right... we have abundant, clean burning NG, and running cars on NG is technology that's available now. NG hybrids are cars we could build now. Wind power is something we can harness now. It's not pie-in-the-sky like hydrogen fuel center cars.

3. "starts with wind"
means lip service followed by Natural Gas, which I'm told Pickens has HUGE investments in. he doesn't care about alternative energy just natural gas economics. HOwever, this is anecdotal, but I have no idea how to go about checking his investments.

4. And it involves him making a ton og money.
He's already managed to privatize water in his little fiefdom. This guy is the biggest piece of shit to come down the pike in a long time. The last thing Democrats need is to get in bed with him.

5. exactly.
He is on board with anything that he can control for a profit. Not as an altruistic thing at all.

6. Umm but he's actually building windfarms and providing LOTS of windpower
AND he is moving people off of fossil fuels. I don't care about his politics. ANYBODY actually helping to move this country to alternative energy sources is doing a good thing in my book. I guess he should just have stuck to oil oil oil like the rest huh?
The ONLY way we are gonna get off oil and other fossil fuels is to get powerful people like him to help.

7. Pickens is an evil bastard. His politics DO matter.
The wind farm is a cover story. And he is also stealing water and kicking people off their land through eminent domain. Water is a resource we will fight the next war over, most likely.

I don't know what T. Boone is up to with "The Pickens Plan" (my guess is to make crazy money off his natural gas holdings), but he's a fucking scumbag.

"I know what people say — water's a lot like air. Do you charge for air? 'Course not; you shouldn't charge for water," says Pickens. "Well, OK, watch what happens. You won't have any water."
