Turn Bill Maher on NOW
Gray Davis is on. Plus, Janeane's coming up. And Donna Brazile.

2. One way out comment from Maher.....
But funny.

Ran like this:
If it weren't for the Nazi connections, Arnold would have no credibility with the conservatives at all. (This was after speaking of his liberal tendencies.)

3. Whoever that Republican congressman is
he's a pompous ass! He needs to let others get some words in.

I turned it off because I can't stand watching/hearing people like that.

I think Gray Davis was getting a little pissed toward the middle of that interview.

6. David Dreier, I think
He actually seems okay for a Republican. Not too extreme, and has a good sense of humor. I wouldn't vote for him though. :)

4. most of it was about Recall
Sharpton got mentioned quite alot, but in relation that no one in the media is giving him a chance. Even though he is getting most applause at debates.

Then of course, Maher had to go to Kobe...I thought Jeanne was gonna throw up

5. His last commentary
was about the screwed up education system in Texas, and his last sentence was (paraphrasing *) "We could do gooder"

7. Some highlights
Maybe the biggest laugh was when Maher was ripping Bush on his downhome ranch act. "He's a big country fan. And that country is Saudi Arabia". Maher also really trashed Bush for his phony Texas "leave no child behind". Actual stats on dropout rate: 40%, not the 1.5% Bush touted. The bottom half was "pushed out" to artificially inflate achievement. Comparison made to Enron's accounting. Fuzzy math. Janeane railed against right-wing media and how Kobe is used as diversion of more critical topics. A quick discussion on how serious the Bush administration is about fighting terrorism when air cargo is not being scrutinized due to pressure from the airlines. Brazile spoke up for the Dem candidates, particularly Sharpton and how he has been marginalized by the media. Dreier had nothing substantive to offer...tried to be funny. Overall, Maher was very tough on Bush, Arnie ("his appearance on The Today Show was a joke"), and Kobe.

10. I would like to see him try.
It certainly would make for an interesting campaign.

Although he sometimes says things that I think are crazy, I agree with him more often than not. He's not exactly liberal, but neither am I. I identify much more with the Democrats than the Republicans. In fact, I despise the evil Republicans, but I also have a strong libertarian (small-l) streak that is missing from both of the major parties. And I don't like pcbs. So I would welcome a Maher candidacy for SOME office.
