Yes, indeed.

And you know what I think?

Fuck the Proles. Irrational, ego-centric, little soakers of Oxygen.

2. Totally.
And his writing on bureaucracy SUCKS! Why didn't he stick with explaining the vocation of science. It's, like, way WAY more interesting.

...'cause it's all Puritanism all the time for the next two semesters...the American and English variants.

9. Writes on Zionism and Jewish/Christian relations?
My latest reading (before starting the Puritan immersion) has been in Beccaria's "Essay on Crimes and Punishment." Next it is on to Calvin's "Institutes of the Christian Religion"...I'll trade you some Buber for some Calvin...

12. You aren't going to wash out of the program....
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 12:14 AM by adsosletter
With the amount of reading that gets thrown at us there is no way to remember it...just to familiarize yourself with it. You will begin to develop full mastery of your subject as you progress; I promise. My comps for next two semesters have an 85 book reading list...I know I won't be able to instantly recall most of it, but it will help build a deeper knowledge base.

13. I'm just starting... but you know what I want right now?
I want to go run off into the mountains with a bunch of male PhD's and get naked. That's what I want. Then we can sit in a circle and talk afterward.

17. It actually competes well with my other manic desire...
Which is to strip naked, tie a large stars-and-stripes 'round my neck like a cape, and go spinning up the street at twilight, snapping my fingers like Carmen Miranda's castanets, and singing "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" at the top of my lungs...

25. So I read.
I make the mistake of going to bed with earphones, listening to lectures on philosophy, etc. End up having these dreams where I'm trying to argue with someone who won't shut up...and realize I've had 5 hours of lectures creating a dialogue in my brain...no wonder i wake up tired. :D

27. Yeah? Well I had a professor get bitchy with me because I asked a question about the syllabus.
After a few rather snide comments, the other professor (noticing his assholery) cleared his throat. Rather loudly. I didn't even realize that the first professor was being an asshole until then. It was like an asshole alarm.

11. Yankee Doodle came to terms
Writing Martin Buber
Stuck a Führer in our back
And called it Shicklegruber!

Riding on his It-Thou
Stuck a feather in his cap
And called it the "metaphysical transcendental attainment of the OTHER!"
