Ever re-read a book and find you liked it more/less?
I just re-read Heretics of Dune. The first time I read it, I didn't care for it. The second time I read it, I thought it was okay. But this last time, I was really impressed. Awesome story!

Ever had a change like that after re-reading?

1. Huh thats funny.
I had a similar experience with that same book actually. First time I couldn't get through it and put it down about halfway through. Second time I read it I got all the way through and liked it.
Third time I decided I loved it and its now my second favorite in the Dune series.
Thats pretty funny--great minds think alike I suppose...:)

3. So...
does that mean you've read any of the Brian Herbert/Kevin Anderson novels?

I've finally decided to read Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune. I had read the first four books of the original series last summer, and decided to wait to read Heretics and Chapterhouse until I was ready for Hunters and Sundworms. And now...I'm ready. (Which means, at the moment, I'm reading Chapterhouse. Curse those Honored Matres and their PUMA attitudes!)

9. Oh I've read EVERYTHING that says Dune on it.
Unlike many fans, I enjoyed the Herbert/Anderson books..I particularly like their House Atreides, House Harkonnen and House Corrino trilogy..I liked Hunters and Sandworms okay...very umm bizarre though.

7. Amateur. Here's how you solve that problem.
Re-read all but the last chapter of the book, then grab some other book of the shelf at random and read its last chapter instead. The resulting gear-shift will be sure to keep you guessing!

8. So THAT'S where the musical number at the end of "The Road" came from.
I did wonder.

4. I'm re-reading Light in August by Faulkner...
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 11:27 AM by zanne
I first read it about 30 years ago. It's funny; it's the same paperback from all those years ago, and there are puppy tooth indents on the cover from my Newfie. I looked at it and thought about how much I miss him.

I'm getting a lot more out of it this time around because I'm not hurrying the way I did when I first read it for a class.

5. About Dune, I am really struggling with God Emperor of Dune.
It is so turgid. I wonder if I will ever finish it.

6. That's the best book in the whole series! Seriesly!
But it is rather heavily-laden with philosophical musings. That's apparently the natural result of human symbiosis with the worm.

Hope you finish it, though!
