I made a lolPalin. Well, a Palin demotivational poster, anyhow.
I'm thinking I should replace the image with one where the daughter's showing, ideally with the trashy baby daddy.



and before anybody starts bitching about trailer jokes, I used to live in one. And I'm the only member of my immediate family who has never owned a Camaro AND my dad's house STILL has wood paneling after the remodel, I get to make jokes about less-than-classy white people since I have a family full of them.

I also don't like the trailer trash bit. Whether you lived in a trailer park or not, doesn't change the fact that that's a pretty classist and insulting term.

2. It's not about money (they have it) it's about behavioral class (they don't have it)
Which is my point. It's one thing when people act like Cletus and Brandine from the Simpsons through no fault of their own, but it's pretty sad if they have other options and choose to be trashy.

Politically correct Guardian writers complain that the term "chav" is anti-working class snobbery. But actually it's got nothing really to do with how much money you have. Not everyone who is poor is a chav. And not all chavs are poor. In fact you can be loaded and be a chav. Chavdom is to do with how you behave.

I know a lot of people who are totally white trash, even though they have a shitload of money. Hell, the one person I know who epitomizes white trash is actually native american and japanese. :shrug:

"White trash" and "trailer trash" have very specific pejorative meanings associated with poverty and presumed attributes of those in lower-income households. I know that a lot of people don't understand that fine detail and I'll assume the OP didn't do this with that specific sort of malice in mind, but ask most people who live in trailers or white people who live in a low-income community and there's no ambiguity. We knew exactly what was meant by those phrases.

17. Well I'm almost 23 and my mom would always express disgust when she saw wood paneling
Some of the costlier paneling is nice, but 99% of the ones Americans have in their dens looks trashy.

20. This stuff was glued on and clearly came from a kit at Lumberjack or something.
Also, there are floor-to-ceiling mirrors on a lot of the walls, sometimes in conjunction with the wood paneling. Dad's house is very 70's and very trashy.
