why can I find every piece of paper from the past 3 years in my Apartment except

why can I find every piece of paper from the past 3 years in my Apartment except
the one I'm looking for?!

Seriously. I have torn this house apart looking for one single piece of paper, the lease addendum from 2007 that allows us to have kittehs, and I have found every tax form, student loan statement, cards from family, letters, photographs, recipes...It is NOWHERE to be found.

Arrrrrrgh.
