My roommate's bike got stolen today
That is like four bikes he has lost since he moved in here over a year and a half ago. All locked. Amazing.

2. Wow
After the first one was stolen, did he buy new bikes? Or used bikes?
I had a bike stolen about three weeks ago and that smarts. It was about 15 years old but I really liked it. I still don't know what I'm going to do about replacing it.

3. He spends about $100.00 at walmart for a new one
He uses the krptonite locks and everything and they STILL get stolen.

4. I was house sitting one time. I parked my bike behind the house for about
1 hour. It was gone. Really creepy.

5. It takes nothing to steal them
<snip> and they ride away without making a sound or arising suspicion.

8. I googled 'better bike lock' and found some interesting info
If your roommate reads this stuff, he'll feel some empathy from others who've experienced the same thing, and get some knowledge that may prevent his next bike being stolen.
